Dr. Matt, PhD
I’m Dr. Matt, with a PhD in pathology started ultrarunning in 1998 at 17 years old to fight off asthma—and I’ve been pushing limits ever since. I’ve done adventure races, Ironmans, and then found CrossFit in 2014, which became my lifeline after a car accident that shattered my pelvis and gave me a traumatic brain injury in 2015. I completed an Olympic triathlon three months after. Then I found powerlifting in 2017. For the last four years, I’ve battled an unknown disease dealing with paraesthesia and presyncope, but I’m pushing back, aiming for 200 miles. That’s the mentality we’re bringing here: No excuses. No limitations. Just grit. Showing you what it takes to forge that kind of grit.
