WHY WE EXIST
Forged Grit was born from the wreckage from broken bones, failed diagnoses, and days when standing up took more grit than finishing an ultra.
We live in a world that worships comfort.
Everything’s automated, optimized, and anesthetized and yet people are weaker, sicker, and more lost than ever.
Forged Grit exists to fight that decay.
It’s not a brand. It’s a rebellion.

Dr. Matt, PhD
I’m Dr. Matt: PhD in Pathology, ultrarunner, and founder of Forged Grit.
I started ultrarunning in 1998 at 17 years old to fight off asthma and I’ve been chasing the edge of what’s possible ever since. Over the last two decades, I’ve gone from adventure races and Ironmans to CrossFit and powerlifting, always hunting the next line between pain and progress.
In 2015, a car accident broke my pelvis and left me with a traumatic brain injury. Three months later, I crossed the finish line of an Olympic triathlon. That’s not a brag. It’s proof that rebuilding is a choice.
Since 2017, I’ve pushed through another test: a mysterious neurological disease causing paresthesia and presyncope. It’s unpredictable. But so am I. My goal now? To run 200 miles and take as many people as I can with me on that road.
That’s the mentality behind Forged Grit:
